How Y'all Are?

GEAUX TIGERS! AHEAD 24-10!!!!!!!!!!!

So very sorry for another whiny post. I thank you for visiting my lowly blog, and once we fix this latest issue I should be back to my former fun-loving self.

A week ago I went to the doc because of that big damn goiter we finally acknowledged during M's hospitalization. I probably would have let it slide but for the recent difficulty breathing and choking episodes. Anywho, Doc apparently thinks I am FOS* as he only did a TSH** and refused to do a T4, T3, etc or a thyroid scan. He then gave me a prescription for Ativan which I promptly ripped up and threw at his nurses and told them I would NOT be back, that I want to know the ROOT of my problem and not be treated like I have lost my damn mind.

Today, the lasix worked too well-I lost 3 pounds today and started having cramps in my legs and nausea. I finally gave up the fight and came home to take more potassium only to have the phone ring within 30 minutes-it was my doc, telling me my thyroid was "Screwy" and that I needed to come in right away.

My TSH** is .009, (which is too low) and my T4, T3 and triiodine were at least twice the normal levels. Congratulations, I have HYPERTHYROIDISM. Lo and behold, I had lost EIGHT POUNDS in a week (and I ate like a PIG. Not a bad problem-I can deal with another couple of months of that side effect..heh.) Look at the signs and symptoms...I have all but one, and that is only because of the hysterectomy God led me to 8 years ago. I am being referred to an internist ASAP for further eval, tx, etc. Also, my blood suger was 147, which is high, but not earth-shattering. Doc took me off work tomorrow, so I will lay around and ponder my impending ordeal.

It sucks to be me. Really. I mean it this time.

That sucks!

Is this related to the heart dx last year? With the rapid heartbeat side effect and all?

You get the gold star for standing up for yourself! Hopefully getting the diagnosis, and good meds, will help with a lot of the crap you've been feeling. My mom's got a good specialist here in Jackson if you need one!

Gee Whiz. I'm so sorry that you've had to deal with more health issues. Hang in there! I'll be praying for you.

I hate to hear about the health issues, but I think it's good to be you. Most of us would have taken the prescription and gone home, but you knew enough to know that wasn't the issue and pushed the right buttons until you did find out what was wrong.

I'll be praying for you.

Yes it is, supermom! It also causes these stinkin' panic attacks I have several times a day-the same ones that kept me from your party (not a flat tire.)

Susan, my doc is sending me to Dr. Reid in Mdn. I just got a call that I have a thyroid scan next week at JARMC.

Allison, When I get fixed and quit freaking out every time I drive, we are meeting at Fernando's. dangit!

Doghouse, the doc made a nasty comment about my being on the internet too much and that's why I worry about my health. (Yeah, he was calling me a hypochondriac.) So I reminded him that I have been a nurse for 15 years and have BOOKS. I shut him down. Heh. Oh, and ignorance is bliss. Trust me.

Has the DOC got an email address??? We can cyber stalk him!!

That sounds like a dumb man's reponse from someone who's too stupid to use the internet. There is no such thing as too much internet!!!

Heck I am on the internet patch, it's great!

I hope you finally get the answers you are looking for.

::::smooches::::

I just canceled my plans on the 16th so I'll be there. Did you request a single doctor to do your scan? If not, I'll just come in sweats. :-P

Will you have to spend the night in the hospital? If so, I'll bring sangria and brownies since it's the closest thing to a vacation we are getting any time soon.

Gurl, how you gonna lie about a flat?? If you said "Panic attack", we would have said "valium"...we definately know about those.
